There are so many needs in India, why is taking care of street dogs a priority for your company?

Compassion Transforms Lives. By extending a helping hand to street dogs, we are nurturing a culture of compassion and empathy. It is through our actions that we can inspire others to treat animals with kindness and respect, creating a ripple effect of change that can transform not just the lives of these dogs, but also the communities in which they live. Vaccinating street dogs also protects people in India, as do the reflective collars we provide to dogs.

Who oversees India Street Paws, Inc.?

Our Board. Our board members include: President Sarah Pekkanen, Vice-President & Treasurer Rachel Baker, and Board Member Suzy Wagner.

What are the benefits of caring for these stray dogs?

Well-being. All animals, including street dogs, have a profound impact on our emotional well-being. Their unconditional love and companionship can provide solace, joy, and healing to those who may feel lonely or marginalized. Some of the poorest individuals in India welcome the presence of street dogs, who provide unconditional love and protection.

What's something you wish everyone understood about this situation?

Ethical treatment. Unlike in the US, where many dogs are considered members of the family, street dogs in India face harm due to misconceptions about their temperament and worth. By advocating for their rights and spreading awareness, we can break down these stereotypes and promote a more inclusive society where dogs are treated more compassionately.
